Unused Medicine Donation and Proper Handling System
The paper, titled “Unused Medicine Donation and Proper Handling System,” proposes a mobile application and web portal for the responsible management of unused medicines. The system aims to connect medicine donors with recipients, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and participating pharmacies through medicine listings, location-based discovery, and donation requests. The proposed platform records medicine details, including name, quantity, expiry date, condition, photograph, and approximate location. It incorporates expiry warnings, handling and disposal guidance, transaction status tracking, notifications, and a contribution-point mechanism to recognize responsible participation. The paper presents the proposed system architecture, database design, medicine-matching process, donation workflow, safety-oriented controls, and reward mechanism. The contribution-point system is designed to encourage legitimate participation through non-monetary recognition. This work focuses on software system design and proposes a framework for improving medicine-donation coordination and awareness of proper medicine handling. Clinical effectiveness and large-scale user-study results have not been established. Future work includes prototype deployment, usability testing, security testing, and evaluation with appropriate organizations and users under applicable medicine-handling requirements.
