Harmoni Sosial Muslim dan Kristen di Kota Perdagangan: Analisis Interaksi Sosial Dalam Masyarakat Multikultural
This study analyzes social harmony between Muslim and Christian communities in Perdagangan, a multicultural urban area where religious diversity intersects with social and demographic changes. Previous studies have largely examined interreligious harmony through tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and conflict prevention, while less attention has been paid to how harmony is sustained through everyday social interaction, the involvement of religious leaders, and collective responses to emerging social problems. This study focuses on the forms of social interaction that sustain harmony, the factors that support and hinder it, and the roles of religious leaders and local institutions. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation and analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that harmony is sustained through neighborhood relations, economic interaction, mutual assistance, community activities, and deliberative engagement. Mutual respect, family education, communication among religious leaders, and government and FKUB support strengthen these relationships. Meanwhile, population growth among newcomers, drug abuse, and environmental problems pose social challenges without directly developing into religious conflict. Religious leaders and pastors contribute as moral guides, mediators, and community mentors. The study contributes an interaction-based understanding of interreligious harmony by showing that everyday cooperation, institutional communication, and collective problem-solving are central to maintaining Muslim-Christian relations in a multicultural community.
