MATLAB/Simulink Models and Supporting Code

This repository provides the MATLAB/Simulink models, computational code, and supporting simulation files associated with the research article entitled "Optimized Integration of PV Systems with a Two-Stage DC–DC–AC Topology for Green Hydrogen Production", submitted to Scientific Reports. The developed simulation framework investigates the integration of photovoltaic (PV) energy conversion, power electronic converters, energy storage, and water electrolysis for green hydrogen production. The computational framework comprises the following main subsystems: 1. Photovoltaic Energy Conversion System A photovoltaic array model integrated with a DC–DC boost converter. Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is implemented using a Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm to regulate the converter duty cycle and support efficient photovoltaic energy extraction. 2. DC–DC Boost Converter The boost converter provides the first stage of power conversion and is controlled through a PWM generation subsystem. The converter includes the main power electronic switching components, inductor, and DC-link capacitors. 3. Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverter A three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) provides the DC–AC conversion stage. The inverter model includes six semiconductor switching devices and associated modulation and gate-pulse generation subsystems. 4. Inverter Modulation and Control The inverter control framework incorporates three-phase reference signal generation, carrier-based PWM, and modulation-related subsystems, including space vector PWM (SVPWM) and modified SVPWM (MSVPWM) implementations represented in the simulation model. 5. Energy Storage System A battery-based energy storage subsystem is incorporated into the simulation framework, including state-of-charge monitoring and a power electronic interface. 6. Electrolysis and Hydrogen Storage The electrolysis subsystem models the conversion of electrical energy into hydrogen and includes relevant electrical, thermal, water-management, hydrogen mass-flow, and storage components. Repository Contents The repository is intended to provide: MATLAB/Simulink simulation models. MATLAB code implementing the P&O MPPT algorithm. Boost converter and three-phase VSI models. Inverter control and PWM generation subsystems. Energy storage and electrolysis models. Supporting documentation and simulation parameters. Research Purpose The deposited materials support the computational investigation of renewable energy conversion and its integration with green hydrogen production systems. The repository aims to improve research transparency, computational reproducibility, and the accessibility of the developed simulation framework.
