THE IMPORTANCE OF GROUNDWATER DEPTH IN ESTABLISHING PROTECTIVE FOREST BELTS

The article analyzes the influence of groundwater table depth and salinity on the growth of protective forest belts, the soil water-salt regime and the irrigation norm. A reclamation classification of groundwater depths is given, the share of tree water demand met by groundwater is calculated using Averyanov’s formula, and the optimal groundwater depth for forest belts is determined.

Abstract

The article analyzes the influence of groundwater table depth and salinity on the growth of protective forest belts, the soil water-salt regime and the irrigation norm. A reclamation classification of groundwater depths is given, the share of tree water demand met by groundwater is calculated using Averyanov’s formula, and the optimal groundwater depth for forest belts is determined.
