Eksplorasi Nilai-Nilai Pancasila dalam Novel Laut Bercerita Karya Leila S. Chudori: Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes terhadap Sila Kemanusiaan dan Keadilan

The novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori tells the story of the struggle of student activists during the New Order era who experienced kidnapping, torture, and enforced disappearance, as well as the struggle of the victims' families in seeking truth and justice. The story represents humanitarian issues, abuse of power, and injustice that are closely related to the values of Pancasila. This study aims to analyze the denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings in the novel and to interpret their connection to the Second Principle, Humanity that is Just and Civilized, and the Fifth Principle, Social Justice for All Indonesian People. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a textual analysis method based on Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. Data were collected through library research using reading and note-taking techniques, then analyzed through the identification of signs, the interpretation of denotation, connotation, and myth, and the connection of the interpretation results with the values of Pancasila. The results of the analysis show that the signs of kidnapping, confinement, torture, and enforced disappearance represent dehumanization as well as criticism of the normalization of violence and impunity. Meanwhile, solidarity among prisoners, an empty plate at the family dining table, and black umbrellas in the Kamisan Action represent efforts to defend human dignity, collective memory, and the struggle to obtain justice. These representations reflect the values of the Second Principle through the affirmation of the importance of respecting human dignity and protecting human rights, and the values of the Fifth Principle through the demand for equality before the law and the fulfillment of the rights of victims and victims' families to truth and justice. Thus, the novel Laut Bercerita not only represents suffering caused by humanitarian violations, but also conveys social criticism of the abuse of power and emphasizes the importance of applying the values of Pancasila in the life of the nation and state.
