A PhD-hallgatók mentális jólléte: Mental well-being of PhD students

This pilot study examines the main individual, interpersonal and institutional factors associated with the mental well-being and resilience of PhD students. The theoretical framework combines transac-tional stress and coping theory with self-determination theory. An online questionnaire completed by 49 doctoral students explored emotional exhaustion, motivation, opportunities for recovery and per-ceptions of the academic environment. The results indicate substantial psychological strain and high-light the importance of predictable requirements, adequate financial conditions, constructive supervi-sion and supportive academic communities. Resilience is interpreted not as an unlimited individual re-source, but as a capacity strongly shaped by institutional conditions. Abstract
