The Rise of Resale: Gen Z's Thrift and Resale Habits

This research paper sets out to identify the rise of resale in the Gen Z populace specifically focusing onthrift and resale habits by acknowledging the three main factors which cause the rise in resale beinggrowth in future, change in perspective and sustainability. The sample size for this research paper was 32respondents which included teenagers of the Gen Z populace and the surveyed data was analysedthrough spearman’s correlation, percentage calculation, thematic coding and frequency analysis. The overall findings are in a range of strong to moderate in terms of correlation and statisticalsignificance which directly support the hypothesis. While there are a few findings which are nuanced, they were also peripheral to the hypothesis. One finding in particular which measured the change inperspective regarding thrifting in their peer groups which supported the core factor of the hypothesis. These findings indicate that Gen Z’s shift towards resale is most likely to continue because of themultifaceted factors like growth in future, change in perspective, sustainability, resale quality, identityand self expression.
