The early warning value of pulmonary fractional flow reserve combined with serological markers in the diagnosis of arterial pulmonary hypertension in Beagle dogs
Abstract Background Arterial pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a type of pulmonary circulation disease characterized primarily by progressive increase in pulmonary vascular resistance and progressive remodeling of pulmonary small arteries. Eventually, it can lead to right heart failure and even death. Currently, there are no sensitive indicators available that can reflect the early functional changes in the pulmonary circulation to achieve early warning for PAH.Pulmonary fractional flow reserve (PFFR), as a novel pulmonary vascular functional evaluation index, can provide functional indications of abnormal pulmonary circulation. Methods Thirty Beagle dogs were randomly divided into a dehydromonocrotaline group (DHMCT) and a control group. Before modeling, and at 4 weeks and 8 weeks post-modeling, mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP), pulmonary artery wedge pressure (PAWP), pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), and cardiac output (CO) were measured using right heart catheterization. The pulmonary fractional flow reserve. (PFFR) was determined via pressure guidewire measurement, while peripheral blood samples were collected for serum marker analysis. Lung tissues were examined by HE staining after experiment completion to assess pathological changes. Conclusion PFFR enables early identification of PAH, and the combination of PFFR and IL-8 provides superior predictive performance compared to individual biomarkers.
