Extending the distribution of the hypogeous sequestrate genus Reddellomyces (Tuberaceae) to the American Continent
Reddellomyces is a genus distributed mainly in Australasia, Spain and Italy, growing in association with Acacia, Eucalyptus, and Casuarina. This genus is characterized mainly by having a glabrous to scabrous peridium, white to dark brown, smooth to tessellate-cracked or verrucose; paraphyses longer than the asci; white to pale brown, smooth to wrinkled peridium; and asci with 2–4 (–6) spores. In this work, the distribution of the genus is extended to the American continent based on its morphology, ecology, variation of ITS and LSU genes, Bootstrap (BT) support, and posterior probability (PP).
