Here's When the Only Ask Should Be for Feedback
If a donor has lapsed, you need a compelling reason to get back in their cycle of giving. “You want your request to stand out from the many others they receive,” notes Gayle Pottle, president of AdventHealth Rocky Mountain Foundation (Denver, CO). “To engage the donor more effectively, invite them to provide input on a specific project or effort you're working on. Let them know you think they're the perfect person to provide feedback or insight. Then provide smart questions about that effort. This is a more sophisticated approach to get the donor talking and re-engaged with your cause. To complete the loop, follow up with them to share how you implemented their ideas and the results of those efforts.”
