Artificial Intelligence dalam Pembelajaran PAI :Urgensi Guru Sebagai Verifikator Pemahaman Keagamaan

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of education has brought about significant changes in the learning process, including in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). Generative AI enables students to access religious information quickly and easily; however, it also poses challenges regarding the validity and accuracy of religious understanding. This study aims to analyze the use of AI in PAI learning and to examine the urgency of the teacher’s role as a verifier of religious understanding in the digital age. This study employs a qualitative approach using field research methods, including interviews, observations, and documentation, conducted at Primaganda High School in Jombang. The results of the study indicate that AI has been used as an alternative learning resource by students; however, it has the potential to lead to misunderstandings if not accompanied by teacher guidance. Islamic Education teachers play a strategic role as verifiers who ensure the accuracy of religious information by referring to authoritative Islamic sources such as the Qur’an, hadith, and the opinions of Islamic scholars. In addition, teachers also play a role in guiding religious digital literacy and instilling a spirit of tabayyun in filtering information. Thus, AI is positioned as a learning aid, while teachers remain the primary actors in maintaining the validity of students’ religious understanding. This study emphasizes that the integration of AI into Islamic Education must remain grounded in Islamic values and the strengthening of teachers’ pedagogical roles.
