Challenges in Implementing Halal Product Assurance in Indonesia: An Analysis of Halal-Certified Products Containing Pork Ingredients (B2)

The implementation of Halal Product Assurance (JPH) in Indonesia faces serious challenges after nine imported halal-certified products were found to contain pork ingredients (B2) after testing. This study aims to analyze the causes of the inaccuracy of halal certification and evaluate the role of regulations and related institutions in the halal assurance system in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach, reviewing primary data from BPJPH, OJK, KNEKS, and other supporting literature. The results of the study show that weak verification of foreign halal certification, minimal domestic supervision infrastructure, and lack of synergy between stakeholders are the main factors in this problem. This study emphasizes the importance of harmonizing international halal standards with national standards to strengthen public trust in halal certification in Indonesia.
