Grid-harmonic compliance of six-pulse rectifiers for megawatt charging infrastructure connected to Austrian medium-voltage networks
The TOR MS V1.0 [ 1 ] replaces TOR D2 V2.4 and establishes a three-stage harmonic assessment for MV-connected equipment, drawing on IEC 61000-3‑6 [ 2 ] and conceptually related to IEEE 519 [ 3 ]. In a typical hub a central rectifier feeds a DC bus with decentralized DC/DC charge points. The six-pulse diode bridge (B6) remains attractive for its simplicity and low cost [ 4 ]. However, its harmonic spectrum poses challenges under the new rules. This paper derives the conditions a B6 directly connected to the MV grid must satisfy at each stage and discusses implications for hub design.
