School Management System: Design and Implementation for Fatima Academy, Nguru, Yobe State, Nigeria
Many primary and secondary schools in Nigeria still keep student and staff records on paper. Such records are easy to lose or alter, and computing end-of-term results by hand is slow and error-prone. This report presents the design and implementation of a School Management System for Fatima Academy, Nguru, Yobe State. The system is a desktop application built in C# with a Microsoft Access database. It supports staff and student registration, school fee records, and automatic computation of subject totals, grades and averages, with login based access for administrators and teaching staff. Requirements were gathered through interviews with the school management and analysis of existing documents. The system was developed by throwaway prototyping and modelled with UML. It was tested at unit, integration, functional, security, system and user acceptance levels. In user acceptance testing, all six participating users accepted the system. No timing measurements were taken, so the expected benefits (faster result processing, fewer errors, safer records) rest on user feedback rather than measured data. Report generation, individual result printing, Excel export and automatic student promotion remain future work.
