High-temperature constitutive behavior and hot workability of a novel FeCoNiSiVCr soft magnetic alloy with high properties

A novel FeCoNiSiVCr soft magnetic alloy is developed by alloying Ni, Si, V, and Cr into Fe-Co-based system. Phase constitution of FeCoNiSiVCr alloy consists of a disordered A2 phase with a small fraction of an ordered B2 phase. FeCoNiSiVCr alloy exhibits high mechanical properties and magnetic properties, where yield strength, compressive strength and compressive strain prior to fracture correspond to 1479.63 MPa, 2771.28 MPa and 43%, respectively, and saturation magnetization and coercivity are 159.79 emu/g and 16.10 Oe, respectively. Furthermore, based on isothermal compression tests under temperatures ranging from 650 to 1050 °C and strain rates varying from 0.0005 to 0.05 s −1 , high-temperature constitutive equation based on Arrhenius relation and hot processing map based on dynamic materials model are established. Furthermore, dynamic recovery and dynamic recrystallization serve as key mechanisms that dominate hot workability of FeCoNiSiVCr alloy. The present work lays the foundation for establishing a composition-microstructure-property-process technical route for developing FeCoNiSiVCr alloy with an outstanding combination of mechanical properties and magnetic properties.
