Two New Species of Altitatiayus Weinreich (Coleoptera: Lucanidae: Sclerostomini) From High Mountains of Brazilian Atlantic Forest

The stag beetle genus Altitatiayus Weinreich is composed of seven flightless species, endemic to the Mantiqueira Mountains Complex. In this work, we describe two new species, Altitatiayus amantikir Soares, Koike & Grossi sp. nov. and Altitatiayus dubius Soares, Koike & Grossi sp. nov., both found in the highest peaks of the Mantiqueira mountain range. This discovery highlights the high level of endemism of the genus and suggests that new species should be found as the region is further explored. Additionally, we provide an up‐to‐date identification key for the species of the genus.
