Introduction: Race and Religion Special Issue
ABSTRACT Race and religion are inextricably interconnected social systems. Understanding how these systems intersect to reproduce racial inequities, injustice, and stratification requires careful and sustained interrogation of the mechanisms through which they operate in tandem. This special issue explores how race and religion are constituted, enacted, and intertwined in ways that shape racial inequality, sustain racially unjust social structures, and reproduce patterns of social stratification.
