Areas of High Risk and High Reward: Temple, Nose, Lip, and Jawline Filler

BACKGROUND: Soft tissue filler treatment of the temple, nose, lip, and jawline can produce substantial aesthetic improvement but contain risks ranging from contour irregularities to tissue necrosis, vision loss, and embolic events. OBJECTIVE: Review anatomic considerations, product selection, injection techniques, clinical benefits, and complication-mitigation strategies relevant to filler treatment of high-impact, high-risk facial regions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Anatomic, clinical trial, consensus, imaging, and complication-management literature regarding filler augmentation of the temple, jawline, lip, and nose was reviewed and synthesized. RESULTS: Hyaluronic acid fillers offer immediate correction and reversibility and remain central to treatment of the temple, jawline, lip, and nose. Safer treatment depends on knowledge of region-specific vascular anatomy, conservative volumes, slow low-pressure injection, small aliquots, and appropriate depth. Product selection should be individualized according to multiple factors such as treatment plane, skin thickness, tissue mobility, desired projection, and filler rheology. Cannulas may reduce vascular occlusion risk compared with needles, although needles retain value for precise product placement. CONCLUSION: Filler treatment of the temple, nose, lip, and jawline can be highly rewarding when product properties and injection technique are matched to anatomy and patient goals. Prevention, early recognition of vascular compromise, and access to complication-management protocols are essential.
