Biochar Production from Sugarcane Residues: Pathways toward Low-Carbon Environmental Technologies

This study presents a bibliometric analysis and scientific mapping of the valorization of sugarcane waste for biochar production and its integration with titanium dioxide (TiO2) in environmental applications. The analysis covers the period from 2014 to 2025 and is based on 1,597 unique peer-reviewed documents retrieved from the Scopus and Web of Science databases and systematically processed using Bibliometrix. The results indicate a significant expansion in scientific output, particularly after 2021. Despite annual fluctuations, the overall trend remained one of growth throughout the analyzed period. China, India, and Brazil are the most productive countries among the institutional entities registered in the databases consulted; the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB), the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT System), and Guangxi University stood out, reflecting the metadata indexed by the databases used. Scientific output consists predominantly of Single-Country Publications (SCP), although countries such as Pakistan, Australia, and the United States exhibit higher levels of international collaboration.
