OPTIMASI KINERJA ESP PADA SUMUR DENGAN INFLUX TINGGI DI LIMAU FIELD

Abstract: Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) is one of the artificial lift methods used to lift production fluids from wells to the surface. ESP performance is strongly influenced by the compatibility between pump capacity, reservoir conditions, fluid characteristics, and actual operating parameters. This study aims to evaluate ESP operating conditions in a well with high influx in the Pertamina Hulu Rokan Limau Field working area and determine an operating strategy suitable for the actual well conditions. A descriptive-evaluative approach was applied using well condition data, Acoustic Well Sounding, pump depth, bottom-hole pressure, casing pressure, and electrical parameters of the motor and Variable Speed Drive (VSD). The evaluation indicates that the well is dominated by a water column with an estimated water column height of approximately 1,493 m, while the pump intake depth is 1,430.60 m and the formation depth is 1,589 m. This condition indicates a substantial fluid load on the artificial lift system. In the observed operating data, the ESP operated at a frequency of 57 Hz, with motor current of approximately 28 A and voltage of approximately 2.18 kV. Based on the evaluation, optimization should be conducted through gradual VSD frequency adjustment, assessment of pump capacity suitability to the actual fluid load, and continuous monitoring of liquid level, pressure, current, and operational stability. This study provides an operational evaluation basis for ESP operation under high-influx conditions; however, quantitative production improvement requires more complete before-and-after optimization data. Keyword : Electric Submersible Pump, high influx, production optimization, Variable Speed Drive, water cut.
