Theses, Authority Records, and Publications: A Linked Corpus of French Doctorates, 1985–2023
National repositories of doctoral theses may record who defended which thesis, where, and before whom, but not what the authors published before and after the defense. In France, theses.fr records carry the identifiers of the IdRef authority file, which links people to works cataloged in Sudoc, HAL, Persée, and other sources. We describe a corpus built on this link for theses defended from 1985 to 2023, with the publications of the authors, supervisors, and jury members grouped into works and yearly histories, degree types from the Sudoc catalog, identity checks of the records that hold several theses, and French and English word-embedding vectors of theses and publications.
