The status of the teaching profession and labour markets: an interview with Martial Dembélé, Xavier Dumay and Ian Greer

This article has the format of a panel style interview. The panel centred on the impact of current global employment and work transformations and how these transformations play out differently across professions, sectors, and locations. In particular, the interview focused on three main topics: (i) the global transformations of employment and work and the precariousness of work, (ii) global employment and social policies, the status of professions and the social contract for education, and (iii) global and local dynamics of labour markets (for teachers). The panel format made it possible to address the themes from various disciplinary perspectives and consider diverse patterns in varying geographical settings globally, including both low-, middle- and high-income countries.
