Surgical treatment options for chronic complete traumatic ruptures of digital flexor tendons in dogs
The article describes the treatment results for four dogs with confirmed chronic complete ruptures of the deep and superficial digital flexor tendons.Surgical treatment involved exploration of the injury site, mobilization of the torn tendon ends, and end-to-end repair using a two-layer suture. For temporary limb immobilization, an Ilizarov apparatus was applied for temporary arthrodesis of the radiocarpal or hock joint, the metacarpophalangeal or metatarsophalangeal joints, and the interphalangeal joints in a flexed position. A positive outcome was achieved in 3 out of 4 cases; however, a revision procedure was required in 2 cases.
