Vigour as a Core Engagement Factor for Innovative Behaviour in Zimbabwe’s Manufacturing Sector

Drawing on the Ability, Motivation and Opportunity (AMO) theory, this research seeks to identify a core engagement factor influencing innovative behavior in the manufacturing sector in Zimbabwe. Adopting a quantitative research design, survey data were collected from 200 employees in the manufacturing sector. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was employed to uncover the link between engagement factors (e.g. vigor, dedication and absorption) and innovative behavior. The findings reveal that vigor is the most influential factor for innovative behavior. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to isolate and underline a specific engagement factor for fostering innovation in the Zimbabwe context. Our findings provide both practical and theoretical implications, suggesting the development of strategic plans for engagement-enhancing practices in the manufacturing industry.
