Factors Influencing the Adoption of Digital Payment Systems Among University Students: A Comparative Study of China and India

This research examines factors associated with university students’ intention to adopt digital payment systems, comparing responses from China and India. It explores perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social influence, trust, and perceived risk in relation to adoption intention. The study uses an exploratory, cross-sectional survey design. The analysis reported in the paper uses 88 valid responses: 54 from China and 34 from India. The findings indicate positive associations between adoption intention and perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social influence, and trust, while perceived risk is negatively associated with intention. This paper is shared as a research output. Its exploratory sampling approach and cross-sectional design should be considered when interpreting the findings; the results should not be treated as proof of causation or as representative of all university students in either country.
