Strengthening Islamic Education in The Digital Era: Challenges and Opportunities

This study analyzes strategies for strengthening Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the digital era, focusing on the integration of technologies such as LMS, social media, and AI in learning, the role of teachers as creators of religious content, and management models for religious and digital literacy. Using a qualitative, desk-based approach, the study identifies opportunities such as information accessibility, interactive learning, and global collaboration, as well as challenges including infrastructure gaps, the digital literacy gap, data privacy, and the loss of face-to-face interaction. The results emphasize the integration of the concepts of ta'lim (Islamic teaching), tarbiyah (Islamic education), and ta'rib (Islamic guidance) for adaptive recommendations such as a digital PAI curriculum and pedagogical training for teachers to maximize opportunities while minimizing risks.
