This article examines the scientific and practical effectiveness of usingonline sensors for real-time wastewater monitoring. The study compares traditionallaboratory-based wastewater quality assessment with continuous sensor-basedmonitoring systems. Particular attention is paid to the continuous measurement of pH,temperature, electrical conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygendemand and wastewater flow. The main efficiency criteria include data acquisition speed, monitoring continuity, early-warning capability, reduction of human intervention, dataaccuracy and operational costs. The study also considers the integration of online sensorswith Internet of Things technologies, enabling remote data transmission and automateddecision-making. The results demonstrate that real-time monitoring can improve theresponsiveness of wastewater management systems and facilitate earlier identification ofenvironmental risks
