STATE PROTECTION OF WOMEN’S RIGHTS IN UZBEKISTAN: LEGAL GUARANTEES AND IMPLEMENTATION CHALLENGES
This article examines the constitutional and legislative foundations for protecting women’s rights in Uzbekistan, focusing on equality guarantees, workplace protections and institutional implementation. It adopts a qualitative doctrinal approach, comparing the constitutional principle of equal rights with statutory provisions and the stated responsibilities of gender-equality advisory bodies. The review identifies a distinction between formal recognition of rights and their effective application in employment, access to public decision-making and institutional complaint handling. It argues that protection is strengthened when legal duties are paired with accessible remedies, transparent monitoring and practical institutional accountability. The article provides a structured assessment of existing legal instruments and recommends improvements in implementation rather than claiming new empirical results.
