Hubungan Partus Lama dengan Kejadian Perdarahan Pasca Salin di RSUD Sleman Tahun 2024

Background: Postpartum hemorrhage is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality and remains a significant problem in maternal healthcare services. One factor that may increase the risk of postpartum hemorrhage is prolonged labor. Labor that lasts excessively long can cause uterine muscle fatigue, resulting in ineffective uterine contractions after delivery. This condition may increase the risk of uterine atony, which is one of the causes of postpartum hemorrhage. Objective: To determine the relationship between prolonged labor and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage among women giving birth at Sleman Regional General Hospital in 2024. Methods: This study employed a quantitative method with a retrospective design and a case-control approach. The study population consisted of 246 women who had normal deliveries at Sleman Regional General Hospital in 2024. The sample included 69 respondents: 23 in the case group and 46 in the control group, with a 1:2 ratio. The control group was selected using simple random sampling. Data were obtained from medical records and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test. Results: In the case group, the majority of respondents experienced prolonged labor, comprising 18 respondents (78.3%), whereas in the control group, the majority did not experience prolonged labor, comprising 39 respondents (84.8%). The Chi-Square test showed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a statistically significant relationship between prolonged labor and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage among women giving birth at Sleman Regional General Hospital in 2024. Prolonged labor was more frequently observed among women who experienced postpartum hemorrhage than among those who did not experience postpartum hemorrhage. Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between prolonged labor and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage among women giving birth at Sleman Regional General Hospital in 2024. Early detection, optimal monitoring of labor progress, and appropriate management are needed to prevent prolonged labor and reduce the risk of postpartum hemorrhage.

Abstract
