Voices in Orthopaedics™…The Role of Networking and Interconnectivity in Building an Orthopedic Career
The primary emphasis of orthopedic surgery residency is the development of proficient and competent orthopedic surgeons. However, networking—an often-overlooked aspect of career development—may play an important role in a surgeon’s success. Whether as a medical student seeking to match into orthopedics, a resident pursuing a fellowship position, or a graduating trainee searching for a first attending job, the ability to network effectively can significantly influence career trajectories at every stage of a surgeon’s professional development.
