Metadata analysis for combining data sets with an application to MNO data
With more data sets becoming available, we see a rise in the number of data sets used to create official statistics. Especially with newer data sets, auxiliary data may be required before a statistic can be produced. In this paper, metadata analysis is applied to a use case on commuter statistics where multiple data sources are considered, including MNO data. An analysis is conducted to answer whether an intended target output can be created given availability of data sets and data integration models. The analysis is conducted on a metadata level only, without the need for data access. Through the application on the use case, we demonstrate the value of metadata analysis for use cases where uncertainty exist about available data sets and models.
