International Cooperation in Vocational Education in the Non-Ferrous Metals Industry: Practical Progress, Core Achievements, and Experience and Implications

Abstract International cooperation in vocational education is an important underpinning of international production capacity cooperation, advancing the Belt and Road Initiative, and building a community with a shared future for mankind. As a typical representative and pioneering field of international production capacity cooperation, the non-ferrous metals industry faces the urgent demand of overseas Chinese-funded enterprises for localized skilled personnel. To solve the talent supply problem, the industry has carried out international cooperation in vocational education, thereby achieving coordinated linkage between industrial development and talent cultivation. Over the past decade of determined efforts, the non-ferrous metals industry has consistently aligned its international cooperation in vocational education with industrial development needs, adhered to industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, and deeply integrated China’s local experience in vocational education serving industrial development with the actual development needs of partner countries in production capacity cooperation. It has made a series of practical achievements in talent cultivation, industrial empowerment, and international exchanges, and has distilled international cooperation experience with industry-education integration as the core logic. This provides Chinese solutions and practical reference for global vocational education to serve industrial development, promote international production capacity cooperation, and assist underdeveloped regions in achieving skills-based poverty alleviation.
