Evacuation of Educational Institutions: A Predictive Analysis and Profiling Approach

The safe and efficient evacuation of educational institutes in emergency situations requires planning, coordination, and prioritization that takes into consideration the complexity of diverse populations and building structures. Conventional methods of evacuation planning are usually static and do not consider dynamic situations like hazard progression, crowd density, and vulnerable populations. Recent developments in predictive analysis algorithms offer an opportunity to predict and plan evacuations more effectively. This paper aims to discuss the integration of predictive analysis and profiling techniques in planning evacuations, specifically in relation to “who goes first and why.” Parameters like age, mobility, proximity to hazards, and other characteristics are considered, and existing literature shows that vulnerable populations are given priority in evacuation planning. Ethical issues like data privacy are also considered in predictive analysis and its integration in planning evacuations. Predictive analysis in planning evacuations is a transformative tool in ensuring safe evacuations in educational institutes.
