Stakeholder Engagement: Goals of Engagement - INSPIRE Project
This presentation was developed within the INSPIRE project (Integrated Short-Term Palliative Rehabilitation in Incurable Cancer) to support the planning of stakeholder engagement activities. It outlines the main goals of stakeholder engagement and provides practical guidance on defining engagement objectives according to stakeholders' expertise, experience and interests, as well as the needs of the project. The presentation identifies five key areas of stakeholder engagement: Knowledge transfer and exchange: Facilitating dialogue between stakeholders and the project consortium and exchanging information and feedback. Reach: Increasing awareness of INSPIRE through stakeholder networks and communication activities. Advocacy: Representing and promoting the interests of wider stakeholder groups, including patients. Accountability and decision-making: Involving stakeholders in project discussions and decisions, including reviewing activities and identifying risks. Impact and sustainability: Supporting the dissemination and uptake of project findings and potential new services. The presentation also provides examples of engagement objectives for different stakeholder groups, including patients, healthcare professionals, professional organisations and researchers. It introduces the SMART approach to setting specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely engagement goals. The resource is intended to support stakeholder engagement planning within INSPIRE and may provide a useful reference for other research projects working in palliative care and rehabilitation.
