A Safety Concern in Post-Fire Research: Serious Field and Laboratory Hazards
Abstract As wildfire research expands into burned neighborhoods, researchers collecting ash, soil, and debris face a myriad of health and life safety hazards. Institutional safety engagement, laboratory containment matched to sample hazards, and consensus field/lab guidance from journals, funders, and professional societies is needed to protect researchers.
