First Report of the Genus Lanmaoa (Boletaceae) from Indian Himalaya Uncovers a Novel Species with Morpho-Taxonomy and Molecular Phylogeny
Our exploration of Indian boletoid mushrooms (Boletaceae and related fleshy poroid fungi) led to the discovery of a species belonging to the genus Lanmaoa, marking the first record of this genus from the country. During macrofungal explorations in different parts of subtropical to temperate Uttarakhand (a Himalayan state in India), a new species of Lanmaoa was collected. After thorough studies of Indian collections this species is proposed herein as Lanmaoa atropurpurea sp. nov. and presented with conventional morpho-taxonomy and multigene molecular phylogeny. A provisional key to Asian species of Lanmaoa is also given.
