Revelation of the Unseen Eye: A Case of Filicide—Case Report
Homicide is a legal term for killing a human being by another human being. Various homicidal acts include strangulation, cutthroat, gunshots, smothering, chopping, stabbing, and others. A combination of these homicidal acts is rare. One such case involved an alleged history of homicide of a 40-year-old male for autopsy at the mortuary wing of Manipal, with the motive of assault and murder by using an iron pipe. Prompt inquiry of case details, meticulous scene examination coupled with a thorough postmortem examination, is of paramount importance in such cases. An autopsy involves a comprehensive external and internal examination of the body, using techniques comparable to those employed in major surgical procedures. During a complete autopsy, all representative tissue samples are collected and processed for microscopic evaluation to aid in determining the cause and manner of death. In cases of suspected homicide, the postmortem examination constitutes one of the most critical applications of medico-legal science. Its meticulous and systematic conduct is essential, as the findings play a pivotal role in supporting law enforcement agencies and ensuring the proper administration of justice.
