Precision irrigation management based on current agrometeorological parameters
The rational use of agricultural landscape resources in agricultural production requires prompt management of water and mineral flows within a natural-technical system to ensure the desired irrigation regime. A calculation module has been developed to manage irrigation based on actual weather conditions and the growth and development phases of plants. In 2025, real-time adaptation of the irrigation management calculation module was conducted on the operating irrigation system in the Experimental Production Facilities «Irrigated» Volgograd region. The irrigation system consists of drip irrigation modules and hose-drum sprinklers, which are manually connected through a hydrant. For testing the irrigation regime, a site was selected that utilized sprinkling for growing Red Scarlett potato variety. The calculated irrigation regime for potatoes was compared with the actual irrigation regime. The comparison showed that, based on actual weather data, water savings in the control variant and in the differentiated irrigation amounted to 31.8 and 11.6 m³/ha, respectively. Overall, the software calculation module enables precision irrigation management and, compared to traditional methods, reduces water consumption per unit of production by 30%
