Game Theory in Poker
This research proposal explores the extent to which game theory strategies can improve poker outcomes compared with relying on probability alone. It reviews literature on skill and chance in poker and discusses Nash equilibrium, Game Theory Optimal (GTO) strategies, expected value, and pot odds. The proposed methodology involves repeated games between players with and without knowledge of GTO, combining quantitative analysis with observations of adaptive decision-making. The study aims to examine the relationship between mathematical strategy, human behaviour, and uncertainty. This document presents a literature review and a proposed research approach; it does not report original experimental results.
