Enhanced Optical Properties of a Cycloplatinated(II)–Thiolate Complex via Borane Coordination
Abstract We demonstrate that incorporating a Lewis acid in the secondary coordination sphere of a thiolate cycloplatinated(II) complex can drastically affect its photophysical characteristics. The borane–thiolate Lewis acid–base interaction in this complex stabilizes the HOMO and consequently increases the HOMO–LUMO energy gap. Enhanced intermolecular C–H···π interactions lead to increased rigidity and reduced nonradiative decay pathways.
