From coach trust to flow: Teamwork execution and teammate trust among Korean high school soccer players

This study examines the association between coach trust and flow among Korean high school soccer players by testing the mediating role of teamwork execution and the moderating role of teammate trust in this indirect relationship. The participants were 256 high school soccer players who completed questionnaires assessing coach trust, teammate trust, teamwork execution, and flow. The results showed that coach trust was positively associated with flow and that a significant indirect association through teamwork execution was observed. Moreover, teammate trust moderated the relationship between coach trust and teamwork execution, such that the indirect association between coach trust and flow through teamwork execution was stronger at higher levels of teammate trust. These findings highlight the interrelationships among coach trust, teamwork execution, teammate trust, and soccer players’ flow, and suggest that teamwork execution and teammate trust may represent important interpersonal correlates of flow in team sport contexts.
