Agentic Delegation as a Project: Toward a Project Management Framework for Agentic AI
Agentic artificial intelligence extends delegation across networks of human and artificial agents. Research already examines delegated authority, autonomy, trust, accountability and coordination. This article addresses a complementary methodological question: how can agentic delegation, considered as a whole, be governed as a project? Drawing on established project management methodologies, including the Project Management Body of Knowledge, PRINCE2 and ISO 21502, the paper examines the transposition of project initiation, stakeholder identification, scope definition, planning, resource management, risk assessment, monitoring, change control, acceptance and closure. Particular attention is given to delegated autonomy, successive sub-delegations, alignment, semantic continuity and the preservation of governing constraints. The Agentic Delegation Charter is proposed as an adaptation of the conventional project charter, established at initiation as the constitutive reference for the delegation project. The paper advances a conceptual and methodological framework rather than an empirically validated governance model. Its limitations and directions for future evaluation are explicitly identified.
