Liver disease in the Americas: reflections from ALEH 2026
Hundreds of hepatologists, health-care professionals, researchers, and trainees met in Mexico City from Aug 30 to Sept 2, 2026, for the congress of the Latin American Association for the Study of the Liver (ALEH). The programme was comprehensive: epidemiological updates, new treatments, non-invasive diagnostic strategies including imaging and biomarkers, precision medicine, health policy, and lifestyle interventions such as exercise and nutrition. Presentations on viral hepatitis elimination, hepatocellular carcinoma, portal hypertension, and transplantation completed a programme that spanned the full spectrum of liver disease in the region.
