Technical considerations in endovascular thrombectomy for distal vessel occlusions
The role of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in acute ischemic stroke due to distal vessel occlusions (DVOs) remains to be clarified. Anatomical complexities in the distal vasculature, such as tortuosity and vessel fragility, render technique selection particularly paramount during EVT. Herein, we present two illustrative cases of anatomically similar DVOs treated with two different techniques at a single institution to frame a discussion of important procedural considerations during EVT for DVO.
