Enhanced thermal transport of nanofluids in rotating cylinder systems: A computational study

This research looks at the behaviour of a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) thermal radiation flow of (TiO 2 /MWCNT-water) hybrid nanofluid inside an enclosure with multiple rotating cylinders using COMSOL Multiphysics along with control volume finite element method (CVFEM). The governing equations are resolved using this combination of software's, thus carrying out a systematic parametric study of the interaction of Rayleigh ( 𝑅 𝑎 ) and Hartmann ( 𝐻 𝑎 ) numbers in various cylinder configurations. The numerical results showed that maximizing 𝑅 𝑎 with minimum 𝐻 𝑎 results in the highest thermal optimization. The four-cylinder co-rotating arrangement provides 111.83% enhancement of average Nusselt numbers as well as 10% increase of axial temperature profile in comparison to conventional configurations. What is remarkable about this work is that it highlights the importance of understanding the complicated relationship between magnetic damping, buoyancy forces, and dynamic multi-cylinder rotation. Consequently, using this information will help in generating guidelines for designs of high-efficiency thermal management systems, electronic cooling systems, and cutting-edge heat exchangers utilizing hybrid nanofluids in magnetic fields.
