Electrostatics of a short open conducting cylindrical ring

The polarizability of a short open conducting cylinder in an axial external field, and also its capacity if charged, are determined analytically by using the Mellin-transform convolution formula. This method proves to be efficient in determining the asymptotic behavior of integrals involving products of multiple Bessel functions.

Abstract

The polarizability of a short open conducting cylinder in an axial external field, and also its capacity if charged, are determined analytically by using the Mellin-transform convolution formula. This method proves to be efficient in determining the asymptotic behavior of integrals involving products of multiple Bessel functions.
