Harnessing the power of zeolite 4A/Sr-activated carbon: A new era in supercapacitor technology
The escalating global energy crisis demands advanced storage solutions with superior performance characteristics. Supercapacitors offer high power density but require enhanced energy storage capabilities to meet growing demands. In this study, a novel Activated Carbon/Z-Sr/4A nanostructure was synthesized via a hydrothermal method and investigated as an electrode material for supercapacitor applications. Comprehensive characterization using XRD, EDX, HR-TEM, FT-IR, FESEM, and XPS confirms the material's morphological, structural, and chemical properties. Electrochemical performance was systematically evaluated using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge measurements. The optimized Activated Carbon/Z-Sr/4A nanostructure electrode exhibited an exceptional specific capacitance of 387 F/g at 30 mV/s, with a remarkable energy density of 0.78 Wh/kg and power density of 200 W/kg at 1 A/g current density. Notably, the material demonstrated excellent cycling stability, retaining 82.5 % of its initial capacitance after 5000 cycles. A two-electrode symmetric supercapacitor fabricated with the proposed nanostructure successfully powered a white LED for approximately 200 s, demonstrating practical viability. These results establish the Activated Carbon/Z-Sr/4A nanostructure as promising candidate for next-generation energy storage applications, combining high performance with long-term stability. Overall, these findings indicate that the proposed composite offers a feasible route toward the development of durable and high-performance supercapacitor electrodes.
