Advancements of propulsion systems for zero-emission buses - approach for effective prediction of energy consumption

The article discusses selected advancements of propulsion systems for zero-emission buses focussing on their energy consumption under different climatic conditions. The special attention is paid on proposal of a method for analysis and prediction of the energy consumption of electric drive systems in public transport vehicles, developed in response to the rapid advancement of zero-emission technologies. Developed dedicated test bench enabling the replication of real operating conditions as well as the suitability of utilising telemetry data collected during vehicle operation for model validation and for identifying factors influencing energy efficiency are presented and discussed.

Abstract

The article discusses selected advancements of propulsion systems for zero-emission buses focussing on their energy consumption under different climatic conditions. The special attention is paid on proposal of a method for analysis and prediction of the energy consumption of electric drive systems in public transport vehicles, developed in response to the rapid advancement of zero-emission technologies. Developed dedicated test bench enabling the replication of real operating conditions as well as the suitability of utilising telemetry data collected during vehicle operation for model validation and for identifying factors influencing energy efficiency are presented and discussed.
