Data collection for this study was conducted using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire, while data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS. The statistical tests conducted in this study included validity, reliability, descriptive statistics, normality tests, linearity tests, heteroscedasticity tests, simple linear regression, t-tests, and the coefficient of determination. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive effect on students’ understanding of budgeting and a significant effect on their financial planning, with a regression coefficient of 0.854 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. The regression equation derived from this study is Y = 6.294 + 0.854X + e. The R-squared value was 0.813, indicating that budgeting practices explain 81.3% of the variation in financial planning, while 18.7% is attributable to factors outside the model. This study confirms that applying budgeting principles to student financial management is crucial. This is achieved through budget preparation, tracking expenses, setting priorities, establishing savings goals, and conducting periodic budget evaluations. The findings of this study provide practical insights for students regarding the development of financial management education by translating conceptual understanding into financial management skills that students can apply.
