Occupational Cluster of Methylene Chloride Poisoning: A Case Series

We describe an occupational cluster of eight workers exposed to methylene chloride fumes following an accidental 200-liter leak of the chemical in a pharmaceutical facility in North India. All patients presented with a mild-to-moderate clinical spectrum, ranging from asymptomatic biochemical derangements to headache, nausea, and drowsiness. Management consisted of prompt workplace extraction, high-flow normobaric oxygen therapy via non-rebreather mask, and serial clinical and biochemical monitoring. All workers made a complete, uneventful recovery without neurological or cardiac sequelae at a one-month follow-up. This report highlights the clinical characteristics of acute methylene chloride toxicity, describes the clinical course and favourable outcomes associated with early supportive care, and reinforces the critical need for stringent industrial safety measures.
